MLK365 Service Clubs
The goal of the MLK365 Service Clubs is to support service learning throughout Philadelphia and beyond by establishing student groups committed to volunteering. Global Citizen assists organizations by creating, tailoring, and providing the MLK365 Service Club curriculum. Staff also trains volunteers and facilitators in a workshop to teach the curriculum and can provide year-round support if requested.
MLK365 Service Clubs provide students with:
- A method to empower themselves through making a difference in their communities
- A heightened awareness of Dr. King's legacy through research projects that build computer literacy and job readiness skills
- An opportunity to break down barriers among peers and within communities
- Leadership opportunities that develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Year-round service and service learning opportunities
MLK365 Service Clubs introduce students to a variety of perspectives on service, and how the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. can be used as a model for ongoing civic engagement. The service clubs enable young people to draw upon their own interests and experiences to engage in a community building process to organize service projects. Club curricula is flexible and can be implemented as part of an after school program, church youth group or any other type of program that seeks to serve or engage young people.
