Chosen 300 Ministries seeks to bring people of different groups together, helping them to realize that despite our differences in race, ethnic group, denomination, social class, economic classes, or faiths, we can unify ourselves for the common good.
Chosen 300 has been bring volunteers together since 1996 to distribute meals and services to the homeless, to provide pre-release classes to incarcerated persons and to offer positive values-based programs for inner-city youth.
Chosen 300 needs volunteers to help carry out their Saturday meal service to homeless individuals. Volunteers are needed to perform the following tasks:
o Prepare food
o Serve food to homeless individuals
o Assist with clean up of kitchen and dining area after the meal
o Assist with other tasks as identified by Chosen 300 staff
Volunteers should dress in casual, comfortable clothing. Volunteers should wear comfortable footwear as the event will require a good amount of standing and walking around. Child volunteers ages 12 – 18 are welcome with parent supervision.
On street parking is available; parking is free on Ridge Avenue and Buttonwood Streets. Metered parking is available on Spring Garden and the other nearby streets. SEPTA's Broad Street line stops at nearby Broad & Spring Garden Streets, just 3 blocks west of Chosen 300.
Christian worship is provided for homeless guests prior to the meal to provide an avenue of hope. However, anyone of any faith is welcome to serve!
