Todd Bernstein, President of Global Citizen, has had a career in public service. After working in government and politics on the local, state, and national levels, he started Global Citizen in 1995. He is the founder and director of the Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service. In 1994, as State Director for then Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Harris Wofford, Bernstein helped Wofford and Atlanta Congressman John Lewis start the National King Day of Service. In 1996 he organized the first King Day of Service in the nation in Philadelphia. He has worked to expand the King Day of Services in cities across the nation, having served as director of the King Day of Service National Expansion Initiative from 2006-2008. A graduate of Ithaca College, Todd studied for his Masters of Government Administration degree at the University of Pennsylvania's Fels Center of Government.
Kelleigh Parker, Vice President of Global Citizen, oversees the operations and logistics of all programming and events. Kelleigh's background includes a combination of non-profit operations and project management experience – this includes previously holding the position as Associate Director of the King Day of Service in 2004/2005. After a foray into the private section, Kelleigh rejoined Todd to manage operations and launch new initiatives. Kelleigh holds a degree in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Rachel Turner, Special Projects Coordinator and AmeriCorps*VISTA, joins Global Citizen after serving as an AmeriCorps National member at YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School where she was both a Community Projects and Nursing Program Coordinator. Rachel is a 2007 graduate of Temple University's College of the Liberal Arts; she graduated Cum Laude with a BA in English. Rachel hopes to further her education after her current term of service by pursuing a degree in public interest law or nonprofit administration.
Alyssa Irving, Volunteer Coordinator/ AmeriCorps*VISTA member, joins Global Citizen after completing her BA in English at Connecticut College and interning at a local nonprofit in West Philadelphia as a Literacy Program Coordinator. As a VISTA, Alyssa assists with the coordination of MLK365 events, as well as the King Day of Service outreach and site activities. She hopes to pursue a career in the nonprofit sector and/or Adult Education once her year of service ends.
